Charolais
Smithston Charolais was founded in 2007. Joining British bred commercial cows to the Charolais bull has proven very successful with steers and heifers sired by Smithston bulls regularly selling for top prices in local saleyards.
Many Smithston progeny are exhibited at Steer Shows where they have been successful in both on hoof and hook classes.
In 2016, a steer bred by Smithston Farms and prepared by Glen Innes High school won Champion middle weight carcase steer at Brisbane Royal and Reserve Supreme Carcase out of 300 entries.
Smithston bred bulls are used over the commercial herd and also sold privately.
